Spatial Assessment of the Digital Economy at the National and Sub-National Level

The study examines the concept of digital economy, highlights challenges in measuring it, and explores development indexes as a tool for assessing its growth effectiveness policies strategies. proposed index is suitable both national sub-national spatial assessments, it was tested validated using examples from regions Russia European countries. selected indicators comprehensively capture geographical distribution economic activity, including concentration businesses specific regions, availability high-speed internet mobile networks, ICT-related jobs across different level e-commerce activity. authors initiated an analysis comparison available data sources, which resulted list that allows sufficient assessment levels economy development. resulting used to assess economy’s top-ranking countries were Scandinavian, while Moscow dominated rankings among Russian regions. results also highlighted significant disparities within Europe. study’s findings align with those other international domestic studies, confirming reliability methodology.
